MAJ (Ret.) Carl P. Lockett served Honorably in the Texas Army National Guard for over 20-years where he was assigned to numerous positions in Texas and held leadership positions at the Battery, Battalion, Brigade, and Division levels. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with minors in Management and Military Science, where he was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer. He also has a Master of Business Administration in Management from Prairie View A&M University. MAJ Lockett has peacekeeping and combat deployments to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Forge, twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He also has a domestic deployment to the Texas/Mexico border in support of Operation Border Guard. While serving in Texas Army National Guard, he worked at Compaq/Hewlett Packard as a Service Segment Manager and Business Analyst. MAJ Lockett now serves as the Klein Cain High School Hurricane Battalion JROTC Senior Army Instructor. Master Sergeant Valarie Smith
MSG (Ret) Valarie Smith spent an Honorable 23 years and 7 months in the United States Army, the first 17 years in the dental field( dental assistant, hygienist, practice manager), and the remaining years as an EEO specialist. Duty Stations include Fort Sam Houston Texas, Fort Benning Georgia, Sinai Peninsula Egypt, Kaiserslautern Germany, deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hohenfels Germany and Fort Sill Oklahoma. After retirement with a Masters in HR management from Webster University, she moved to Houston in 2008 and worked in AIMCO (Apartment Invest. Mgmnt Co.) HR for 2 years then discovered JROTC. Currently, with 6 years experience in Army JROTC, she established the first program at Hartman Middle School in 2011, known at that level as LCDC (Leadership, Citizenship, and Development Corps), until moving to Waltrip High School in 2014 as an Army Instructor. Proudly accepting the challenge of co-establishing the first Army JROTC program in Klein ISD, for the 2018-19 school year, she is looking forward to continuing the JROTC mission of "Motivating Young People to be Better Citizens" in the coming years. Hobbies include fitness training/ previous competitor, and traveling. Master Sergeant Smith has twin daughters currently serving in the United States Air Force.
