Gifted students, Grades 2 - 5, attend GATE classes at their home buildings.
The Kearney Gifted Program focuses on the following specific needs as they relate to the gifted student.
Affective Needs/Leadership Develop personal growth and social development through the understanding of self, leadership, and citizenship skills in order to establish life-long goals.
Creative Problem Solving/Critical Thinking Promote critical thinking and reasoning abilities as well as providing an environment encouraging divergent thinking and problem solving.
Oral and Written Communication Foster inquiry and challenge attitudes toward learning while developing oral and written communication skills.
Research/Technology Develop research skills and methods through the use of technology.
College and Career Planning Explore future college or work experiences and consider qualifications needed.
