Cultural Event

Ustad Rais Khan (Born 1974) belongs to the Dharwad Gharana and hails from the illustrious family of the Late ‘Sitar Ratna’ Rahimat Khan, a legendary Beenkar and Sitariya. Rais Khan learned the art of playing the Sitar from a young age in the gurukul system from his grandfather, Prof. Abdul Karim Khan, and father, Ustad Bale Khan.


Rais is an accredited artiste of AIR & Doordarshan, both in Sitar and Hindustani vocal. His versatility in singing Khayal, Thumri, Ghazal, 'Kannada Vachanas' , 'Dasara Pads' , 'Nirgun Bhajans' and 'Marathi Abhangs' has won appreciation by music lovers. He has been awarded the Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Memorial Award (Bhubaneshwar) in 2011 and the ‘Sur Mani’ from Sur Singer Samsad, Mumbai. 

 

Gala Dinner & Open Mic

Join us at Wynnk Kitchen and Bar for a gala night where we move from showcasing our science to showcasing other talents - the open mic night. We will have acoustic guitar performances by Kirubeswaran O.R. and Amrita Singh. Atal Vats and Yadunandan Edayadathodi will sing for us, and lastly, Inayath Shaikh and none other than Nishikant Subhedar will tickle our funny bones.

 

A trip to the Western Ghats

After three days of neuroscience, we take our science outdoors to the Western Ghats. On the fourth day, 5 February 2023, we will visit Queen's Farm, a great farmhouse located at Backwater of Panshet dam. Queen's Farm is encircled by breath-taking peaks, dense vegetation, fresh air and the best amenities making it an ideal vacation destination. For people who are looking to take a break from their hectic lifestyles and spend a relaxing weekend enjoying the beauty of nature, this farmhouse is the perfect place. This trip is not included with the official registration fee, and extra charges - INR 1200/person - will have to be paid on site.
