ThinkFast Assembly
Thinkfast is an interactive school program that came to HHS that uses a game-show format to teach students about safe driving, drug and alcohol awareness, and making good choices.
Drunk Driving Simulation
Students in a Service Learning class partnered with Zoe Moreau from HDAAC and gained access to the Drunk Driving National Guard simulation. It allowed me to experience how alcohol affects driving using special goggles and simulators. It opened me up to the dangers of drunk driving.
Immigration Research Paper
In Essay Writing class in 9th grade, I wrote a research paper about the debate of eliminating illegal immigration in the US.
Club Fair
I helped set up the table in September and volunteered at the Club Fair for Best Buddies. Here other volunteers and I were able to recruit new members, explain what it means to be a part of Best Buddies, and expand the club.
STEM Cascades Youth Summit
I participated in a research seminar at Boston University. This seminar was to collect research on how students teach other students. There were 3 presentations all covering different topics mainly foncusing on an issue that we face today.
Best Buddies Leadership Conference
Over the summer of 2024 and 2025, I had the chance to stay at Indiana University for 4 days for a leadership conference. During this conference, I was able to connect with others, learn new skills, and get inspired to make a difference in my community and surroundings. Being at this worldwide conference allowed me to grow as a leader by gaining different perspectives.
Best Buddies Ambassador Visit
This past March, as part of my involvement with Besy Buddies, fellow officers and I organized a visit from a Best Buddies Ambassador to speak at the high school. The presentation focused on inclusion, awareness, and etiquette when interacting with individuals with intellectual and developmental disavilities. This experience allowed me to support advocacy and help promote a more inclusive environment.
DECA
I have been competing in DECA for the past three years where I developed skills in business, marketing, and professional communication through competitive events and club activities. I also attended DECA Day on The Hill, where I learned about the new phone bill that is going through the House of Representatives. This gave me an understanding on the real-world application of business concepts strengthened my interest in leadership and decision-making in a professional setting.
Northern Italy and Southern France
I was fortunate enough to go on a school trip to Northern Italy and Southern France to educate myself on sustainable farming. During this trip we went to various location however the main STEM-focused ones were Cuneo, Langhe, and Liguria. Aside from learning about sustainability and Italian and french customs I was able to form lasting connections with my peers and chaperones, while also making unforgettable memories.
Cuneo: We visited a livestock ranch, fruit orchard learning about the food production; we went to a packing center, we toured a dairy farm and learned about their cheese making and aging.
Langhe: Here we visited Castello Grinzane Cavour learning about the Cavour family, we went through the grape vineyards and were able to view the different kinds of grapes and how they were produced, the techniques, etc., we were also given the opportunity to cook traditional pasta from scratch
Liguria: We visited an olive grove, learned about the production and how they manufacture, we also had the chance to taste test olive oil, pesto, and some of their spreads.
Mexico
I was fortunate to visit Cancun, in April 2023. During this trip, I learned plenty about the culture, and native living style, and tried new foods, my sister and I went on an excursion at El Meco Archaeological Site and learned about the Mayan civilization.
Brazil
With Brazil being my parent's home country we tend to visit a lot. I love being in Brazil because of the culture, food, traditions, and differentiation. Every time I visit not only do I love seeing my family, but I also love being able to visit new places and learn more about the history.
