Franklin Area Junior/Senior High School Hall of Fame Nominees Announced: Still Accepting Nominations

The Preliminary Nominees for the FASD Hall of Fame Class of 2020 have been announced. Nominations are currently being accepted and can be done online through the Hall of Fame’s Facebook page or directly at the high school office. Nomination forms can be downloaded online or completed electronically via the following links:

General criteria to be considered:

A person(s) whose actions demonstrate outstanding character
A person whose outstanding citizenship has achieved international, national or local recognition
A person(s) whose leadership can inspire students in the pursuit of excellence
A person(s) whose accomplishments are outstanding or whose leadership and/or contributions are considered exceptional

Categories of Recognition

Achievement - Alumni of Franklin Area High School whose distinguished actions have led to outstanding recognition in their chosen fields on a local, national, or international level are eligible.
Service - Alumni, faculty, staff, or friends of Franklin Area High School whose actions and/or achievements may not be categorized in the above, but are deserving of such recognition and honor.
Lifetime Recognition - Alumni of Franklin Area High School, who shall be out of school for at least forty years and whose lives have reflected character and distinction are eligible.
Athletics - Alumni of Franklin Area High School who have outstanding records of achievement in their chosen sport which would make them deserving of special recognition are eligible. One team per year may be selected for induction.

For Military Service: Robert Blair and Ken Keverline

For Professional Accomplishments: Nicole Chekanowsky, Roland Davis, Lou Slautterback, Derry B. Michael, Randall Rosenberger, Arthur Knoizen, Robert Thurau, and Jim Bell.

Nominated Coaches:

Dick Russell, Ed Treadwell, Allan Shilling, and G. Robert Irons.

Nominated Female Athletes:

Track and Field - Michele Basham, Leah and Lindsay Shouey

Basketball - Martha Williams

Nominated Male Athletes:

Football - Bob Cardy, Rich Cerro, George Harris, Richard Manson, Jon Turner, and Dave Smith

Baseball - Bill Bliss, Adam Frederick, Bundy Fulmer, Matt Koziara, Ryan Seyler, and Zack Sterner

Basketball - Kevin Blackhurst, Chuck Snell, and Bob Witherup

Wrestling - Lantz and Tom Schwabenbauer.

Nominated FASD Teams:

The 1959, 1967, 1971, and 1972 Football Teams

The 2001 Boys Basketball Team

All new nominations are due by February 1, 2020. At that point, a final list of nominees will be narrowed to a list of 15 candidates that will be considered for induction.

The FASD Hall of Fame Committee would like to thank everyone for their interest in nominating outstanding honorees and invite everyone in the community to join us at the Tenth Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the Fall of 2020.
