"In looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if they don't have the first, the other two will kill you." - Warren Buffet
This quote highlights that integrity is the foundation of success in accounting and many other professions. It builds trust and ensures that work is done honestly and responsibly. While intelligence and energy are valuable, without integrity, they can be misused, leading to severe consequences. In accounting, where accuracy and ethics are essential, integrity must always come first.
I am Jade Kwang Jing Yi from Kent Ridge Secondary School. I am hardworking, ambitious and have a strong passion for accountancy. My interest first started when my mother was explaining her work to me as she is a financial accountant. This led me to research more on accounting as I found it really interesting and fascinating. In Secondary 3, I had chosen Principle of Accounts (POA) as one of my main subjects, this deepened my interest towards accounting and I would always strive for excellence in this subject.
I am keen to enrol into an Accountancy course with an aim to further enhance my knowledge and skills in financial accounting and thus lay the foundation for my professional growth. I believe an early admission to your program will help provide me with the foundational knowledge and skills required to thrive in the ever-evolving world of finance.
My work ethics include perseverance, responsibility and many more.
I always demonstrate perseverance especially in class, whenever I am facing a challenging question, I would not just give up, I would always figure out a way to solve it eventually. Having a growth mindset in this situation helps greatly as I believe that after doing enough practice, I would be able to understand and do it probably. This can also be used in real life situations as giving up would get you nowhere in life.
My next work ethic is responsibility, I have demonstrated this in my daily life, particularly in my academics, by taking every assignment seriously and ensuring that I complete it efficiently within the given deadline.
Lastly, teamwork. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork through group projects in school. Working with others has taught me how to listen, share ideas, and see things from different perspectives. In accounting, where accuracy and cooperation matter a lot, these skills are very important.
I aspire to become a skilled and trustworthy accountant whom people can rely on and look up to in the future. My passion for accounting has driven me to pursue it as a career, and I am eager to strengthen my financial reporting and accounting skills through this course. This will help me prepare for future challenges and career growth.
In the long term, I aim to become a well-rounded accountant and obtain professional certifications. This course is the first step toward achieving my goal, providing me with valuable opportunities for growth and allowing me to follow in my mother’s footsteps.
I have developed a strong foundation for Principle of Accounts (POA) over the past three years and have strengthened my problem solving skills. I learned how to use google sheets to keep track of my expenses. My attention to detail ensures accuracy in financial records, while my experience using Google Sheets to track income and expenses has helped me apply accounting concepts in real life. Through group projects, I have also mastered teamwork and communication skills needed to help me achieve my goal to become a reliable accountant.
