The whole virus' body, which will be strong enough to overtime multiply and battle against your body, therefore have more side effects.

With this mRNA vaccine method by only recognizing spike proteins, your body can still recognize the SARS-CoV-2 virus, slowly training the immune system to fight better against the virus incase next time it enters your body cells. Therefore, COVID-19 mRNA vaccines have lesser side effects.
