Being an English teacher, I hope to bring a diverse set of literary perspectives into the classroom that spark creativity and joy for my students.
Meeting my students where they are at is a mantra that I have already begun to attest within my student teaching, and I will continue to expand that sense of understanding within the context of their own situations when I am in my own classroom.
While my students will come from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, identities, cultures and more. What I know that as an educator is that my students benefit not only from sharing their own cultural experiences with each other, but by sharing and being seen in their identities by their teachers.
