Every day, our students begin class with a "Word of the Day" and "Today in History."
This invites conversation and critical thinking.
Sixth-grade students are studying early World History through the analysis of The Odyssey, Epic of Gilgamesh, and comparative world religions. They work together to study ancient civilizations.
Seventh-grade students are studying World History, specifically the creation and fall of world empires. Our students are tracing their families' own immigration stories and working to identify a hero they admire.
Eighth-grade students are studying US History. We are focusing on the history and structure of the US government, thoroughly studying the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We are closely examining the Civil Rights movement, which culminates in the spring with a week-long field trip to Alabama.
How does our government work and why?
Reading paired with watching the film.
