Peer Mentor Digital Portfolio Guidelines and Rubric 2024-2025
Peer Mentors collect and organize artifacts in many formats (audio, video, graphics, text, etc.) to display their efforts in student engagement and leadership, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities developed along the path to becoming a role model for their mentees:
Coursework activities and assignments (selected works you are proud to showcase)
Video clips (i.e. New Student Orientation activities, SSC social media takeover, or other)
Peer Mentor photos
Peer Mentor reflections
Student artifacts demonstrating learning across time (i.e. Navigating College presentations, time management lessons, icebreaker lessons, self-care strategies, study habits,
Community engagement (artifacts participating in Dominican and local community
Peer Mentors create and host the digital portfolio, starting development in EDUC 1000, Navigating College seminar, incrementally adding to the site throughout the Peer Mentor program. The portfolio serves as the anchor assignment in the Peer Mentor Training Seminar, and is the culminating work into year one as a Peer Mentor.
The digital portfolio reflects the developmental nature of the peer mentor program as students progress from student learners to student mentors. The audience includes students’ designated integrative coach(es), mentees, academic advisors, course instructors, fellow colleagues in the program and potential employers. It is expected that peer mentors and peer mentor candidates use this digital portfolio to document and showcase their overall Dominican Experience. It is a place for personal reflection and integration of knowledge and experience in and outside the classroom. You may use this portfolio in your Navigating College classroom and/or Digital Portfolio Sessions as communication to students, and as you conduct a job search after the completion of your Dominican degree(s).
