Doing Our Part

Since learning about the dangers of plastics to sea life, the team decided that we had to contribute to making things better not worse. While doing research we learned that some of the best ways to help the ocean cause is to start recycling. As a team we now collect plastics to take them to recycling plants. We also decided to use mainly repurpose materials for our booth and giveaways. Every year we buy new plastic toys to appeal to young children at the competitions, however this year we decided to use old plastic bags to create bracelets and other small gifts. We may start doing this every year! Some things you can do to support the oceans is to reduce the amount of plastic you use in your everyday life. Also try to pick up trash you see and prevent litter from reaching streams. However, we understand you can only do so much by yourself, so we ask you to spread the word and make sure others know about this problem, so we can fix it one piece of trash at a time!
