This bowl was a bit of a struggle but also really easy. For some reason I was one of the ones to get done the quickest during each stage of this project. The hardest part was picking out what prints and color to use because there was a large variety. My overall goal during this project was to end up with a functioning bowl, and I am glad I achieved that since that was the project. I feel that the bowl was looking good up until it was time to put it together. For some reason the measurements of the lengths of the sides and the square in the center of the bowl messed up during the assembly of this piece. Overall, this was a pretty fun project and I was proud to show family and friends and see their reactions when they realized I made this bowl.
This plate was fun and easy to make. I didn't run into any complications besides two of the feet coming off before being fired but that was just because the clay was too dry to make it stay properly. When picking my design, I just looked through each of the stencils until I saw one I liked. I chose to make it a bright blue color so it could be vibrant and fun. The scraping, glazing, and gluing were all really simple and I loved how this plate came out!
This logo project had many steps and in the end I wasnt really happy with the result. We started by designing a logo that uses our initials and then traced that logo onto a foam board so that we could start assembling it. I have a Z and an M in my logo with an exponent of 2 because my initials are Z, M, M. I also added an A because me and Emma have an alliance. We then had to papermache on top of the pieces of foam taped together. Aftrer that we had to decide what to do with the exterior. My favorite part about this project is probably the side with all the photos of me and my friends or the bottom where I played tic-tac-toe with Mrs Christmas. I also have a snow scene inside the M because I enjoy winter and the A is a pink sky because I like sunsets. Overall I'm not super happy with how this turned out but I think the idea is cool.
For my clay animal I chose to do a lamb. I chose this because I looked up "clay animals" on pinterest and a lamb came up first. This was probably one of the longest projects I've done just because we had to wait till after winter break to finish them. We first started with a cut out stencil of our animal and then took a lump of clay and added a bunch and took away a bunch. Once the body was built, we had to use a lot of paint and a lot of blending to get the colors and shades right. I think that the head looks a little weird but I feel that I got the texture done well. My favorite part of this project is that it's finally done and my least favorite is how heavy it is even though it's hallowed out. I personally don't think I did well on this project overall, but I've gotten a lot of compliments so maybe it is decent. I had fun.
For this project we had to use foam to make something realistic that could trick someone into eating/using it. I chose to make pink sugar cookies because it was on the list of things we could make and I like to eat sugar cookies so it checked all the boxes. I feel like the hardest part was getting the actual shape down with all the shaving and carving, but once that was done the color matching and applying sprinkles was easy just time consuming. Over all I think this project was one of the most fun ones we have done and I'm fairly proud of how it came out.
