Intro To Studio Art

Creative Lines

This is a picture of my creative lines. There were nine scribbles that I had to turn into one beautiful picture. At first it was really difficult to think of what to do, but once I had a theme, I was on a roll. It was really fun seeing it all come together. Although I am not much of an artist, I was able to turn this into something I'm pretty proud of.

3D Story

This was the second art project we did this year. We were given a brown paper bag that had a few materials in it, such as paperclips, rubber bands, straws, a button, a paper cup, and skewers. We were allowed to only use these materials and magazines to make a 3D story about something that has happened in our life. We had about two weeks to complete this as well. To start, I had to make a hard surface that I could build on, so I glued pages of a magazine all together. I started thinking of ideas of what to make, and then I just crumbled up balls of magazine and started working. I think the hardest part of this assignment was just coming up with an easy story that you can tell using the materials given and in the time frame we had. This was a fun project.

Clay Jar

This has been the first clay art project we had this year. This has been probably my favorite project so far because clay is really fun to play with and I was really proud of what I made. At first, I had no idea what to create. Should I do an animal? An actual jar? I had no idea! At the time, I was thinking about what car I want to get, being that driving is something I have to actually think about now. I wanted a VW beetle, AKA VW bug, to be my first car, although that probably won't happen. The hardest part of the whole car was definitely the wheels and hub caps. Overall, this was a very fun project!

Clay Whistle

This has been my second favorite project this year, so far, because I love working with clay and I loved being able to be super creative with my design. Knowing that many people do animals for their whistle, I decided I wanted to do an elephant. Although the ears "look kinda like Mickey Mouse ears" (quote Mr. Langmaack, bahahaha) I decided to keep it and call it my melephant, AKA Mickey elephant. The color I chose also ended up being labeled wrong and was the wrong shade, but overall it turned out great and I love getting my dog's ears to perk up every time I blow it :)

Clay Bowl

This was probably my least favorite project because I didn't know what design I wanted, I messed up by forgetting a coil on one part. I know if I did it over again, I could make it into something I love, but this is probably the project that I was most disappointed with, with like the finished project. It was a great learning experience tho!

Hand Drawing

This has been my favorite project and I'm really proud of how it turned out. I don't really consider myself like an artist, or at least not a very good one, but I'm really proud of this one. The only thing I wish I would've done differently for this project is make some of it darker and really make the shadows darker. Other than that, I really love this!

Underwater Watercolor

This has been probably my least favorite project because I struggled SOO much with it. At first I was using wayyy too much water and it was just bad. Then I put awful spots of bright blue on it and that made it look awful. Then I tried to cover it up by putting orange over the blue but overall it was just all a mess. I really needed to start over, because of obvious reasons haha, but I didn't have time. This was a good learning experience though and I know now what to do differently next time.
