This was a very fun project to do. One of the hardest things to do was to choose the object I was going to create. It was also difficult to get the foam block circular to get it the shape of a carrot. I loved when getting to use the saw to cut out the shape and trying to get the right mixture of paints to get the correct color of a carrot to make it look realistic. I think this was a fun project and overall I wouldn't change a thing about the project. I would enjoy doing this again.
The personal art logo took me a very long to time finish, but it was worth it in the end. When being introduced to the project I didn't know where I was going to start or what shape I was going to do. When I decided, I went back and forth between the paint colors and how I was going to make it represent myself. After some thought, I decided on painting a soccer ball to represent my favorite sport to play and flowers to add some color. I loved this project and thought it was super fun! The one thing I would change was to not take so long on it and maybe turn it in on time.
Overall, this project was a success. I had fun doing it, and although I encounter some struggles and hardships throughout creating this Raku vase, I still had a blast. I had fun being creative and thinking of ideas for the design and shape I was going to make it. The only thing I would change about this project if I were to do this again would be to make it smaller than the current vase. Since the vase is so big, it was hard to get it into the kiln and out quick enough, so we had to fire it a different way which made the black crackle not show up and instead, I had to use paint. I love how it turned out, but it added more time to this project and didn't look as authentic as the others.
While we were on the pottery wheel, we had to make at least on bowl and one mug (which had to have a handle on it. As you can see from the picture, I made many more than two objects during my time on the wheel. I had so much fun and this was by far my favorite project during this whole semester, and probably throughout the whole school year as well. Even though I needed help many times, whether that was I needed help centering it or I was just completely struggling to get it to look like how I wanted it to look while trimming, but I don't remember a time where I wasn't laughing and having a great time. I would definitely do this again, but the only thing I would change is to give more time on the wheel because this was definitely a learning experience that I loved. I just kept making more and more, and by the end when I was glazing them all, I realized that I had made 12 bowls/mugs. This was my favorite project and I wouldn't have changed anything about it!
