Fortress 0f Boxitude

This box was based on and inspired by Superman's Fortress of Solitude from DC Comics. I chose this because Superman's my absolute favorite DC superhero. I tried to make the blue look crystalline and reflective but it ended up coming off more cloudy than anything. I did the same with the Kryptonite (the green crystals) early on but decided to color those solid green instead. My favorite part of this box is the lid which is styled after the Kingdom Come Superman logo. I thought the red was going to come out orange or purple but it didn't. It came out just the shade of red I wanted! I call it the Fortress of Boxitude!

Pot of Greed

This piece was inspired by my doodles in my notebook. Each symbol is something I've written on schoolwork or my personal notes. I will say it's less red than I thought it'd be. It's more brown. I think people will like the general look of the pot. I think in the future I'll spend more time getting the shape of the pot down as it's not perfectly round.

Assorted Bowls and a Mug

I made these bowls and this mug using clay on the pottery wheel. It was a really interesting experience learning to center the clay and carefully mold it into the shape I wanted. It came out better than I thought it would. I really like the paint we used. The paint had glass in it that melted and when it did it colored the paint it was in, giving these items their unique coloration.

Reed Lamp

I made this lamp using a log of manzanita wood, reeds and tissue paper. Inside there are lights which are strung up using glue. This project was a challenge for me as I'm easily distracted and it demanded a lot of focus. But I'm happy with the way it came out. If I were to do it again I'd make it smaller. My favorite part of this project is the interesting pattern on some of the blue paper that developed from liquid starch pooling in those areas.

Foam Beef Taco

This taco is made of a hard composite foam that I had to cut and mold using riflers and a large motorized saw. I based it on a hard-shell taco with only beef inside since sometimes that's all you want. I chose a taco because I thought it would be a simple yet fun shape to do.
