Intro to Art

Creative Lines

I used color pencils to draw my underwater scene. I was inspired to do this because in our first project, I drew an octopus, so I decided to draw more underwater creatures. The goal of this project was to make a scene using random squiggles, and I feel like i did a good job. My favorite part of my drawing is my jellyfish because it turned out way better than I thought it was going to. My least favorite part is the yellow fish because it didn't turn out as I had planned.

Hand Drawing

In this project we drew our hands holding a tool. I drew a lot of dots to make the hand, and 4 different pencils to shade it. I chose to use this tool because it looked simple and easier to draw. The goal of the project was to draw our hand and make it look realistic. My favorite part of the project was doing all the shadows because it made things more noticeable. My least favorite part was probably the lines on the tool because they were hard to draw.

Landscape Painting

In this project, we chose a landscape and painted it. We colored on the back of the picture with a pencil and then traced it onto the canvas. I chose this because it was different than everyone else's pictures. The goal was to paint a landscape and we learned how to use acrylic paints and how to blend them. My favorite parts are the rocks or the bush on the left. I liked these the most because I liked the way they ended up. My least favorite part was the sky because it was the hardest part and it was hard to make it look like the sky.

Clay Jar

In this project, we made a jar out of clay. We first got a piece of clay and shaped it into what we wanted to be. Then we put the jar into the kiln and then glazed them. I chose this because it was I wanted to make something that I liked. The goal was to make a good clay jar and we learned how to make a good jar out of clay.

Clay Bowl

In this project, we made a bowl. We first designed our plans on a paper towel taped to the bowl. Then started making our design by putting coils on it. Then we put them in the kiln and then glazed them. The goal was to make a cool bowl and we learned how to use coils to make a clay bowl.

Clay Whistle

We made a clay whistle. We first made 2 push pots and put them together to get a hollow inside. Next, we attached the mouthpiece and made it so it could whistle. Then we put them in the kiln and fired them. Next, we then glazed them. The goal was to make a whistle that could make a sound and I accomplished that. We learned how to make a whistle out of clay and make it whistle. My favorite part of this was my design.

Oil Pastel Insect

We made an insect drawing using oil pastels. First, we chose what we wanted to draw and then traced it onto the paper. Then we started using the oil pastels to make the bug and background. We learned how to use oil pastels and how to use them to make a good picture. My favorite part of the project was the ladybug because I felt like it looked the best and it was the most fun part to do. My least favorite part was the background because it was super hard and I had to fix it a lot of different times.

Underwater Watercolor

We made an watercolor painting of an underwater scene. First, we chose what we wanted to paint and then traced it onto the paper. Then we started using the watercolors on the background. We learned that we had to put water on before for the background so it was more flowy. Then we worked on the closer details and main part of the picture.  My favorite part of the project was the fish because I it was fun to work on. My least favorite part was the rock at the bottom because I feel like I rushed on it so it didn't turn out super great.

Bird Prints

We carved a stamp on a plate of a bird. First, we made the picture black and white before we printed it. Then we colored on the front of it and put it on the plate to trace. We had to shade the back and the lead went onto the plate and we then colored all the white spots with Sharpie. We then had to carve out all the pencil spots and then started test printing. We would print and then fix the spots that needed fixing. When we had it good, we started making prints for our book. We then put them in our book and we were done. My favorite print was my pink one because pink is my favorite color. My least favorite part of this project was that my prints usually didn't turn out because I put too much ink on it.

Custom Box

We made a box with a name on it. First, we had to choose what font and what we were going to write on the box, and then we printed them out. Then we traced the word onto the piece of metal and pushed it outwards so it stuck out. We had take time on each letter until they looked good. We then had to put together the box. We cut pieces and found papers that we liked and then started to put it together. My favorite part of this project was printing our name into the metal. My least favorite part was the box because not all my pieces were completely even.
