Preflection:
For this project I will choose a type of medium to use and portray an orphan in Honduras which we will gift to them after. We are doing this because it will bring the children joy and will let them know that not only we love them, but God loves them as well. I'm super excited and grateful for the opportunity to use my skills in art to bring joy to another child in Honduras.
The most important aspect of this project is to portray the child the most I can with it looking like a colored pencil drawing. It will look like her but it's going to look like a colored pencil version of Ruth. This activity could be considered worship because we're creating beauty which God has given us the ability to do. I will know I am successful on this project if I can get a close representation of the photo on the drawing.
The past four weeks have been really challenging, I had to reintroduce myself to pencil and colored pencil drawings and learn how to oil pastel art. I learned how to get the main points of the child proficiently and how if it's not perfect that's okay the goal is to get the drawing to look like a drawing of the child. I chose to use colored pencil because I like the texture it gave and I like how I was able to manipulate the drawing
Process and Product:
I actually loved this project, it challenged me and pushed me more than I have been through my past art projects. I do like the end product of this child, I am content knowing it's not exactly like the photo because a drawing isn't supposed to look like a photo. The texture that came out through the colored pencil is lovely, it tells it's own story
Sending the product off:
I really hope this drawing of my little girl Ruth brings her so much joy and happiness when she receives it, I hope she can't wait to show it off because she thinks she looks beautiful. If I could talk to her I'd tell her how much Jesus loves her and wants to know her, also tell her how much I Iove her and have been praying over her throughout this process and will continue to pray for her after I sent this product off.
Reflection Paragraph:
We just watched the video of the kids getting their portraits back and it was so special to see them so excited to get a piece of artwork made just for them. Seeing the video made all the struggles and hard times worth it when I saw their faces light up
