Clay Whistle

I made this whistle into a conch shell. It was a lot of fun to make with clay. After I fired it, I blended two different types of glaze to get an ombre effect. Glazing it was fun because I tried something new. I love how my whistle turned out and it is one of my favorite art projects. I thought it was cool because it can be blown into like a real shell.

Clay Box

I like how my design turned out. The flowers on the top are my favorite. I wish the colors on the bottom were different because they do not match very well with the top. I learned a different way to glaze called majolica. I wanted to do a mandala on the top, but it turned into flowers and I stuck with that idea.

Matched Set

I like my design I made for my matched set. I also really like the color as well. I wish that I would have put a white glaze on the bottom instead of just leaving it as clay. I made these with the slump mold technique. The vase was harder because I had to cut the side to get it off, and it was harder to make smooth. I chose to do plates to hold cookies and snacks at family parties. I made the vase for fun. Overall, I really like my matched set.

Pottery

This is the pottery I made on the wheel. I love the shape of some of my bowls. The color of the glaze did not turn out exactly like I wanted it, but I still like it. Making pottery on the wheel was hard, but it was really fun at the same time. After getting the clay centered, it was fun to pull up the sides and make it bigger and wider. I also enjoyed trimming afterward.

Raku Pot

I made this pot by blending coils of clay together. I like the shape and the design. The color of the glaze did not turn out exactly like I wanted it, but I still like it. I wish that there was a little bit more contrast between the black and copper glaze. Overall, I really liked this project, and it was cool to see the pot glowing hot in the kiln.

Iguana

I made this iguana with clay. I added on pieces and carved out parts to make it look realistic. I like the shape of my iguana and the texture too. I used acrylic paint to add color and I love the shading on the spikes and tail. I really liked this project and I would definitely do it again.
