Preflection Paragraph:
In this project we are creating portraits of kids from Sierra Leone to send to them. We are doing this project so that we are able to put our creative gifts to use for the good of others. I am excited for this project and I can't wait to hopefully make a great piece of art for a kid. I am so glad that I have been given this opportunity and I think its really cool that we are able to find a way to connect to these sweet kids.
The most important aspect of this portrait is the quality of the artwork so that the kids who receive it will feel important and seen. This is considered worship because we are using the gifts God has placed in us to put back into the brokenness in the world to reflect Christ. I will know that I have found success when my art looks like the picture I got of a kid in the first place.
I really enjoyed this one
This one was fun but i don't love this style for me.
This was very hard and its not for me.
We were given the oppurtunity to experiement with all 3 of these different options for the project. I enjoyed doing pencil and I liked that if i messed up i could erase it and restart. Though, a weakness would be that if you work the paper too hard it starts to peel and you might have to start over. I then tried using color pencil and it was fun.... but I don't like my style when using color pencil. I like how smooth the skin is but i don't like how the color pencil looks on the ears and eyes. It looks very cartoonish to me and not what I was invisioning for this project. My third one was chalk and I struggled a lot with this specfic one. I have a hard time using new colors to bring in emotion and a different perspective so I think that was a big thing for me. I decided to choose to work with a pencil because it matches what i had envisioned for this project.
