Introduction to Studio Art

Creative Lines

For this project I had to look at 9 different lines and make one big picture out of them. This challenged me to be creative and create pictures. Some lines were easy to use but others were really difficult. This drawing also taught me that color pencils look better when you fill in most of the white unlike my ground which I tried to have the effect of dirt which also taught me that it didn't work.

Hand Drawing

Overall for this project it was really fun, but for me it was also super difficult. I learned how to double a picture with lines and I learned how to add value to my drawing. Adding value was the hardest part for me and I defanently learned which techniques work and which ones don't. It took several retries but overall, I am really happy with how my drawing turned out.

Bug Painting

Overall I was pretty proud of this project. I learned how to start a painting and tracing the lines to painting and blending to get non-flat colors. The hardest part of this project was definitely the blending. As you can see the back round was really hard for me to blend but as I got to the bug and the leaf I got better at blending.

Jar Project

For this project I made a jar that looked like a chopped down log/tree trunk. I am happy with how this project turned out. I learn how to shape, cut, and carve out the clay. I added design and texture to the jar and mixed glazes to get the colors i wanted. The colors turned out perfectly and overall my jar turned out better than i thought it would.

Bowl Project

For this project we covered a plastic bowl in a coil design of our choice. I did a leaf/flower type pattern. Through this project I learned how important it is to blend clay and how important it is to cover it with glaze. I am overall pretty happy with my project. There are some patches where the glaze didn't reach, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Whistle Project

For this project we had to make a whistle. I was pretty happy with how I turned out. After it was fired in the kiln, it doesn't whistle as well as it did before, but besides that I am happy with the outside of the pineapple. The hardest part of this project was to make the whistle in the first place and get it to whistle. After that the designing was decently easy and went pretty smoothly. Overall, I am happy with how this project turned out

Story Project

For this project I created a story that happened in my life using paperclips, popsicle sticks, magazines, and more. Overall I am happy with how mine turned out. I feel like it tells the story pretty well or at least gives an idea of the setting and what was going on.
