Preflection
In this project, we are going to create portraits of children living in Honduras with either pencil, colored pencils, or oil pastels, and send it to them to have. I really like the entire concept of this project and I am really excited to make somebody else excited through this.
I really liked moving from medium to medium really quickly in this process, because I could remember the struggles and fun parts of each medium and come to a good decision based on that. I had to relearn how to use graphite pencils, but once I got the hang of it, it came pretty naturally, and I loved it. Then, the colored pencils were a real challenge for me, but I'm fairly happy with how the result looks. And then the oil pastel was really fun, and it reminded me so much of painting, which I liked. I think I am going to end up drawing one with graphite pencils and one with oil pastel because I had the most fun with those.
Servant Working and Beauty Creating
To me, this whole project is an example of both servant work and beauty creation. We are using our gift from God of art to create these portraits of kids, and then we are being servant workers by sending it to them!
This project was so fun to do! I had never worked with oil pastels in art class before, and so it was fun to try out on a potrait. I loved how similar it was to painting.
I love how this turned out! It was real fun to work on the different textures throughout different parts of her portrait, and I am so proud of the end project.
Reflection
After working on these portraits for so long and putting quite a bit of effort into them, all I can hope is that these two kids love their portraits as much as I loved creating them! I love giving people things, especially things I have made, and so I hope these kids feel that love. If I could tell both Saninh and Viyada something, I would tell them how loved they are by both God and those around them, and that if they like this art, they should try it out too!
