 creative lines

This project was actually pretty hard to get started on. At first, I could not see anything in it, and all I saw were the pictures that I had drawn in the project before. Then, I started to see 2 snails, and I just kind of went from there. I learned how to shade and blend colors, and now I really like to color with colored pencils. I really like how this project turned out, and I wish we would do more things with colored pencils.

hand project

This project was much less fun than the creative lines one, but it turned out so much better. I did not think that I would be able to make something that was actually kind of realistic, because I had never tried that before. It took forever so I thought I wouldn't ever really get it to a place where I really liked it, but I'm really happy with how this project turned out, and I learned so much from it.

insect painting

This painting was so fun!! Paint is definitely my favorite thing to use in art now, and I feel like this project turned out really good. I learned how to make a painting look "not flat" and I learned how to give "the idea of something" and not the actual thing with all the details. It took me a bit to find a border color that I liked, but it ended up a color I really liked.

clay jar

This was the first time I had used clay in a really long time, and this jar was a real "trust the process" project. It took forever to get the shell shape that I wanted, and then when we had to glaze it, it was hard to tell what color it was going to turn out as. I was picturing it a whole lot lighter, but I'm actually very happy with how it looks after it's finished.

clay bowl

In my opinion, this bowl was a lot easier than the jar we did before. It was really fun to come up with a design for it. I also had to trust the process on this one, because I couldn't see how the inside looked until the very end. It was so cool to see how it turned out once I flipped it over. The glaze was nice on this one because it was very obvious what color it was going to be after it went in the kiln. Overall I'm happy with it.

clay whistle

This was such a fun and frusterating project at the same time. It was easy to make the shape and design of the whistle, but to actually get it to whistle was challenging. Once I got mine to whistle, it was so fun to design and glaze it. To be honest, I thought I was painting it a more pinkish color, because I mixed some orange and pink glaze together, but I think the orange way overpowered the pink. I'm not mad about it though, I like how it turned out even if it's not what I meant to do.

watercolor painting

I am very happy with how this painting turned out. It took a bit to realize how watercolor worked and how to layer it, but once I figured that out it was really fun to paint. I messed up the background by getting yellow paint all on it, so i had to repaint that part 3 times. Overall, I had a good time painting with watercolor and I wish we could do more paintings like this.

print project

I didn't think that this project would actually work out when I first started drawing and carving the bird, but it ended up turning out good. It took forever to carve out the bird, but once that was done it was super fun to print out whatever. I loved all the different combinations. My favorite one was the black bird with the orange/pink background.

box project

This project was so fun and was a good, low-stress last project. I'm happy with how mine turned out, though I wish I chose a lighter brown paper. It was so fun to carve the "kaitlyn" in the box and I'm happy with how it ended up looking.
