Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

This was our hand drawing project, it was one of our first projects and I thought it was going to be super hard. In the end it was hard but I was really proud of how it turned out. We took a picture of our hands holding a tool. then we uploaded it to the classroom and printed it out. We then started drawing based on the picture. For this project we used pencils, an eraser, paper, and a blending stick. We started by drawing the outline of our hand, then we (slowly) filled the hand in.

Insect Painting

For this insect painting I painted a butterfly on some flowers, originally the background was full of flowers but I didn't like the way that it looked so I changed it to just being all green. Some tools I used for this painting was paint, canvas, and a pencil. something I learned while working on this project was that you can change your design into something you like, for example I didn't like the background so I changed it . I really like that in art I can be flexible and do and draw what I want.

Clay Jar

For this clay jar project I created a 3D rectangle, with sunset colors. Some tools I used for this project was clay, a scrapper, a knife, paint and glaze. I learned to be careful with how much or how little of paint I put on the jar because I started off with just a little of paint but those colors would have barley shown up. While painting this I realized that I really enjoy to paint and explore using different colors. Painting is a way to show your emotion or something that you like. I love to look at sunsets so when I saw these 3 colors I thought of a sunset so I just started painting and ended up with this jar.

Clay Whistle

For this clay whistle project I created a pig, because I looked at a bunch of different animals and the pig looked the cutest to me. The objects I used were clay, glaze, paint brushes, some knives and smoothing tools. In this project my piggy tail broke so we glued that back on and now it looks great. I also added some darker dots around the ears, and the tail for some texture and effect. I love working with clay because the mistakes are usually easy to fix and I get a lot of freedom on what to make.

UnderWatercolor

For this watercolor project I was looking up underwater animals online and I found this dolphin and thought it was cute and looked like a fun animal to use for this project. I stared with the background and my project is monocromatic so the whole project is one color. I used a darker blue for the shadows and a lighter blue for the accents. I also used a white pen for some demention and to make the watercolor look more livley. I really enjoyed how this project came out and it might be one of my favorites. This project took a lot of time to get the shadows right and make it look like it was 3d.

Printmaking

This printmaking project was a really fun project to create, I loved being able to have full creative control on the whole project. I loved experimenting with colors to see which colors look good together. For the unique print I used banana paper with black inc to show off the bird and make it bold. However, the yellow and pink print is my favorite because the color compliment each other very well. If I could change or redo anything about this project I would have outlined my bird a little faster and smaller, the feathers are pretty big and I wish they were a little smaller. Overall I really loved this project and I would love to do it again and see what I could improve on.

Spot the Differences

This spot the differences project was something new because I had never tried graphic design/computer editing before. At first I was afraid that I would stink at it but I think our project turned out pretty good. For this project we used our computer and a picture of a dairy. Me and my partner started by removing and object and then kept changing objects from their. In the end we made 10 changes, we each removed anobjects, recolored an object and so on. In the end I really liked this project and liked trying something new.

Foamboard Box

Our foamboard project was the last project of this year, we got it done in about a week and came out with boxes we all made and loved. For the project we used glue, exacto knives, scissors, foamboard, and fun paper. We glued together a box using foamboard then we carved out our names with metal and then we wrapped out box in the colorful/fun paper of our choice. Then we assembled the box and there we had it, I really enjoyed this project because it wasn't like a quick end of the year project like I thought it was going to be. We put time and effort into this project and I really liked how mine came out!
