For this project we are each getting a kid from Cambodia and creating a portrait of them with either pencil colored pencil or oil pastels. Once we complete the drawing it will get sent back to the child and we will be able to watch a video with their reaction. We are doing this to show the love that Jesus has for these kids, even though they are in a bad environment they still deserve goodness in their lives. I really like this project because I am going to be able to spread happiness and joy to someone I've never even met.Â
The last 3 weeks of practice were fun. I loved being able to experiment with each form of art. The pencil was the easiest, just because that's what I'm most comfortable with. The Oil pastel was the most fun one, being able to see it all coming together using 20 different colors. And the Colored pencil was the hardest because I couldn't get the texture or the colors right. I would pick either the pencil or the oil pastel because they turned out the best, and I had fun using them.
This project was very fun to do. I loved being able to have the thought in my mind that a child would be able to see the love of Jesus through this portrait of himself, knowing that I can spread new life to him is an amazing feeling. Although it was difficult to recreate the protrit exactly, I believe it still turned out very well.
When this boy receives this portrait I hope he feels happiness and warmth. I hope he feels the love both Jesus and I have for him. If I could say anything to this child, I would tell him that he is loved so deeply and that he brings joy into the world.
