Preflection:
For this project we are drawing a kid with whatever drawing skill we perfered. Either pencil drawing, colored pencil, or pastels. We have picked a kid from Sierra Leone, a place in Africa, where children don't have enough money to spend on personal portraits or keepsakes. So we are making a portrait for the kids that we will send to them so they get to keep and have them for the rest of their lives. We are doing this because it is an oppurtunity for us to connect with other kids across the world and so we can spread Jesus' love to them. I am super excited about this assignment, I can't wait to watch the video of their reactions because it shows their true joy that we were able to give them from this simple project.
The most important part of this project is that we make it something that the kids will actually enjoy. They have given us their favorite colors and favorite things to do so finding a way to do a good job on this project while also incorperating their favorite things is the goal. Through this project we are worshiping God because we are creating beauty and connection with other through these portraits, we are glorifing God because we are getting to help others and bringing them joy. I will know I am succesful in this project if I am happy with the final project and knowing that the kid that I chose would also be happy with it.
Reflection on Practice:
Over the last three weeks I have learned a lot about my art skills. I have learned that when I try to hard to get it exactly like the picture is when I overthink and it doesn't come out good, but when I try not to be perfect is when I actually get the outcome I wanted, this is somethign that I will rember when doing my final project. Some challenges that I faced were mixing different colors to find the right shade, it took some trial and error and other some times took longer than others. I am going to choose to do pastel because I am happy with how my practice project came out and I think I will be able to replicate something similar on my final project.
