India Project

For this assignment we are creating a portrait for an orphan in India. I am excited and a bit nervous for this project. I want them to like and it and feel like it is them. I am also excited to work on portraits again and hope to improve from the last time. I think that this is a really great assignment and one I hope I can be proud of.

I think that the most important aspect of the portrait and is making it look like them. You want them to recognize themselves and see there portrait in a fun and unique way they may have never seen. In the project we are doign this project for them and to bring them joy and God wants us to be giving and charitable to those who struggle and are not as fortunate as us.I will know that I was successful in this assignment when i feel that I captured there beauty and life into the portrait and I am proud for them to receive and get to see it.

pencil Practice

Oil Pastel Practice

Color pencil Practice

we tried these three different medias I was able to find what worked for me and what didnt. Figuring out that I was comfortable with pencil and enjoyed using color made it really exciting. I had never used the oil pastles before and it was exciting to try but I realized that I was not something that I wanted to use for the portrait. With the pencil I felt that I was not able to capture life in her face with only one color. So, I have decided to use color pencil for the portrait.

This project really helped me with creating bueaty. I learned so much about value and color in this project. For thr portrait I was creating they have a very unique skin tone with many diffrent shades. I figured out how to had highlight to her nose and a blush to her cheeks. The eyes and the lips were my favorite to complete because of how I could add more unique color and value to them.

Final Result

I am very happy with the end result. I felt stumped on to do the background because I didnt want it to take away from her face. I choose to incorporatre her favorite color with a geometirc backgroud. For this portrait I had to restart a couple times because I knew that I needed to get it right. Once I was able to find the best way to layer the color pencil to match her skin tone I was able to keep progressing. I am very proud of the end project and really hopes she likes it!
