I chose to draw a charcuterie board because I love food and it was the kind of food I grew up eating. From the beginning I loved the idea of doing something with food because there are so many kinds and now much variety. It was a struggle to find foods that fit into the theme and with the lines, but once I got rolling it was easier to come up with ideas. This project was both challenging and easy at times.Â
When making this hand drawing we went through many lessons and demos to figure out and learn technique. I found myself frustrated a lot and struggling to copy the image. Through trail and error I learned that its not all about using your brain and more about using your eyes. Im very thankful for advice and help from friends but most of all Mr. Langmack, because I couldnt have done it without them!
Painting this landscape was a really calming experience. As I worked, I paid close attention to the shapes of colors in the picture, trying to capture the peaceful feeling of the scene. Blending the greens and blues helped me slow down and notice small details I usually overlook, like the texture of the grass or the shadows on the hills. By the time I finished, it felt like I had actually spent time inside the landscape, not just painting it, which made the whole process relaxing and satisfying.
