Our first art project was to build a 3d story from a personal experience you had in your life. I did a time where we went to the Dominican Republic and rode ATV's/dune buggies through their town. The dune buggies start in this little town and then goes to the water where the person (me) swims across the lake to a tree and it is hard to see but there is a rope hanging from the tree where me and all my family were jumping and swinging off of. I chose to do this story because it was a really eye opening experience driving through the town and getting to see what the local kids everyday life was like. This trip was extremely fun and I got to make some awesome memories with my family.
For our second intro to art project we did landscape paintings. I painted a picture that I took in Washington D.C with my friends Caroline and Reese. It was of a field of daises and a huge tree in the back with little spots of the sun poking through. I chose to do this picture because it is one of my favorite flowers and it really just shows how great God is and how he can make these beautiful things just by speaking them.
For our 3rd project of the year we started working with clay. I built a red and black square box. I chose do do these colors because there was this resturant my family went to have breakfast at and it was red and black checkerd and gave off this old school vibe that was very cool. They had a black and white movie playing, vintage jukebox, and their booths just remind you of something you would see in a movie. I really enjoyed going there and it was a fun experience. Although this didn't turn out how I would have liked, I am still glad I got to do this project because now I know more about how to work with clay and figure out how the glazing process works.
I really enjoyed making the clay whistle. Although it was a bit of a challenge to make it actually whistle and make noise, I liked how we got to experiment with clay and figure out what worked best and what didn't. While doing this project I learned that it isn't going to go perfectly every time, I faced many challenges and it didn't go how I liked every time but in the end I got a really cool puffer fish! You cannot see the entire fish but it has a face and some really cool deatails all around.
This project reminded me Isaiah 64:8, it talks about how we are the clay and God is the hands and he molds us in His image. Just how I used my hands to create a bowl to look how I want and think is beautiful, God creates us how he thinks would be best and is beautiful. My favorite part about doing this project is finishing it and getting it ready to present to my mom as a gift.
I really enjoyed making this water color painting. There were a bit of struggles but in the end I got to make something beautiful and do my best. Underwater creatures aren't often seen compared to everyday things like a pencil or bowls. This just reminds me of a verse in the bible that says how God sees us and knows us all even if we are on the quieter side or don't like to socialize as much. He still loves us all.
For this project I used oil pastels to create a monarch butterfly. I seemed to really struggle getting started with this. At the beginning of it, it looked like a kindergartner just took oil pastels and scribbled everywhere. After some help from Langmack I figured out what I was doing wrong and made a really cool and unique painting to give to my grandma.
For our last project of the year we made prints. Not only was this project really easy, it was also incredibly satisfying. We started off by drawing on the eraser then after we cut out parts of the eraser to make a really cool stamp. When we completed the eraser stamp we got to use our creativity to make different designs and use different colors to make a really cool print using different papers and ink techniques.
