Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

For this hand drawing, we only used pencils; four different shades from light to dark. During this project, I learned how to scale an image, and make it larger. It inspired me when I say other drawings in my class. I expected my drawing to be bad, since I haven't taken an art class before. I was surprised when my drawing actually looked good. My goal was to learn how to shade properly. I think I achieved this goal, but I can definitely become better. I think that my drawing came out better than I was expecting it too, which I am proud of.

Bug Painting

For this painting, we used Georgian paint. During this project I learned how to mix colors to make new shades and I learned how to create depth with paint. It inspired me when I saw some of the paintings that other students had made. I didn't have very high expectations, but I think that my drawing turned out better than I thought it would. My goal during this painting was to learn to make new colors. I am proud of my drawing and I think I am a much better painter now than I was before

Clay Jar

For this jar, we used clay coils and some tools to create patterns in the clay. I learned how to shape and blend them, as well as glaze them. Many of the other jars I saw, as well as some on the internet, inspired me to make a unique jar. My goal was to make my jar stand out; be bright. I think I did achieve this goal, but I could've done better. My favorite part of my piece is the suns on either side, which I shaded. I think that this will influence me to glaze other things interestingly, and make more unique things.

Clay Bowl

During this project, I learned how to blend coils of clay and shape them to make what I want. For this project, I was inspired by a forest-type bowl that I saw. I wanted to create a bowl that reminds you of a tree or a rain forest. My goal for the project was to create the best bowl that I could, and I think that I accomplished that. My favorite part of this is the swirls on the bottom. I think this will influence future projects because I now know how to shape coils and how to glaze them.

Clay Whistle

During this project I learned how to shape clay into an empty shape, and then make a place to blow air, which created a whistle. I was inspired by my own pet lizard for this project. I wanted to create a whistle that looks like a lizard sitting on a rock. My goal for this project was to not only create a good looking whistle, but make a good sounding one too. I think that I accomplished this goal. My favorite part of this whistle is the way that it sounds. It is a very nice tone and makes a loud noise. In the future, I will be better at shaping clay and carving designs into it.

Underwater Color

For this painting, I learned how to use watercolor. I learned how to make clean lines with watercolor and how to mix different colors to make new ones. I also figured out how to create depth using layers of watercolor. My goal for this project was to create a painting with good color depth. I think that I accomplished that. My favorite part of this painting is the background. I like the colors and the pattern of it.

Printmaking

When I was making these prints, I learned how to carve with the special knife and how to make shapes. After, I figured out how much ink to add to make a clean print. I learned some cool prints like the rainbow print, which I put on the front of my booklet. If I ever have to make another print, I will know how to do it.

Spot The Difference

During this project, we used Photoshop to change the look of certain parts of the picture. I learned to remove an object, replace an object, duplicate one, change the color of an object, and change the size of an object. I was impressed by my ability to make the picture look clean. In the past, I've not been very good with Photoshop.

Foam Board Box

When making this box I learned how to measure and cut panels made out of foam board, make an imprint of my name on a piece of metal, and how to put all the pieces together to make a box. I think that I exceeded my expectations with this box, the lid fit much better than I thought it would and it held up really well.
