In making this project, we used four different pencils, each with a different lead thickness. We used tools such as blending stumps, erasers, lightening putty, electric erasers, and more. I learned to use cautious techniques that helped me show detail on my face, such as around my eyes and my chin. This project took a very long time, but I am happy with the way that it turned out. My self portrait is a major improvement when compared to my hand drawing in Intro to Art.
During this project, I learned to paint with oil pants on a canvas, similar to my insect drawing in Intro-to-Art. I explored elements of shading, mixing colors, and creating faded elements. It took several weeks, and I am happy with the way it turned out. One of the hardest parts was creating different hues within the kiwi's flesh, which took about 4 days to complete. Overall, I enjoyed this project and am satisfied with how it looks.
Making this project was an interesting style change. I have been painting, drawing, and using other styles of art for many years, but I have never tried scratch art before. Overall, It was a lot of fun to learn a new style of art. In the beginning, it was challenging to adapt to some of the challenges, such as how to hold the knife. After experimenting for a few days, I picked it up quickly. I am very happy with the way that it turned out, and so far this has been my favorite project in 2D-Art.
This project was similar to the watercolor I made in Intro to Art. This time, we painted architecture that was meaningful to us. I painted a castle that I visited while in Wales, staying with my grandpa. I learned to "paint quickly," in order to prevent colors from drying and creating unwanted lines. I also learned to make depth, which can be seen in the bushes. The hardest part of this painting was making the windows on the castle, which was difficult because they are small and there are so many. This painting was very fun, and I would love to watercolor something similar again in the future.
This project was made using colored penicls. I started by outlining the details of my truck with pencil. Then, using layering and fading techniques, I was able to make the color of the different areas on my truck. The hardest part of this project was the chrome on the front bumper. After figuring that part out, the rest of the project was very fun. I think that this is my favorite project so far, with the scratch art close behind. Ending my 2D art year with this project was the best choice, and I would love to do something similar in the future.
