India

Preflection

For this project we are going to create a portrait of a kid in an orphanage in India, with pencil, colored pencils, or oil pastels. I am excited about this project because I enjoyed the self portrait we did, and I think it will be special to the kid I draw and it will be cool to see their reaction.

Trial Portraits

It was super fun the last four weeks to try out pencil, colored pencil, and oil pastel. We did the self portrait last year so it was pretty easy to get back into the groove of drawing a face with pencil. With colored pencil, we drew a car last year, which I really enjoyed, but found it more difficult to creat skin with them.

Final Reflection

I loved this project and the process of it, from picking out the kid we were going to draw, trying out our three options, and finally working on for a couple weeks until it was finished and we get to send it off. I think this project was extra special because it was more personal, and we are aiming to make the kid we are drawing feel special and happy. I was happy with the finished product, and am glad I chose to use pencil.

When Kirti receives her portrait, I hope that she feels special and important, and knows that people care about her. I hope it puts a smile on her face and makes her feel beautiful. If I could, I would tell her she is beautiful and that I hope she enjoys her portrait as much as I did making it. I hope to see her reaction on the video.
