I chose intro to art so that I can do 3D art next year. I enjoy to work with my hands, and I want a relaxing class to take that is fun. I learned to be creative in how I use my materials. This piece was inspired by a dream I had about a fish pulling me out of a boat while I wasn't wearing a life jacket. The goal of this project was to have fun and to have at least 1 moving part. I think that I did achieve my goal, and more. This is the first piece that I have made that was 3D that I had a choice of what to do.
At first I was not excited for this project because I thought that it would turn out terrible because I thought I couldn't draw, but near the end I found myself really enjoying this project. I chose the scraper because I thought it would be easy to draw and shade. I think that the hardest part of this project was probably the drawing and dots because I though it was such a process. It ended up not being that bad. I really enjoyed this project. I enjoyed this project because I gave me a sense of confidence after I completed it. I am really excited to bring it home and show my parents. I am so proud of myself for completing this. I am looking forward to doing the coiled bowl now.
I chose this picture because I really liked the flowers and the post. I used acrylic paint to complete this picture. I learned how to paint using different strokes of the brush and how to paint grass (grass is really hard to paint). I think the next project inspired me to complete this. I am excited for the clay container next. My goal was to paint something that was an idea of it not the exact thing. I think that I reached this goal. This is better than what I hoped for! I am really bad a painting, but this was really fun and I think I grew and learned. I think that my mom will like it and my sister will probably say "That looks terrible!" But I don't really listen to my sister anyway so... ya. I like the post the best because I think that I blended colors really well. I don't really like that the grass doesn't really match, so going back I would probably do all the grass in the back on the same day. I think that I am excited to see what other things I can do!
I made this jar for my mom. (She loved BTW) I put Proverbs 31:10-31 on it because I thought of my mom when I read that verse. I made this jar with Skittles or M&Ms in mind. I thought that M&Ms or Skittles would be perfect for it because when you open it, all of the candy will fall out. I thought that the ledge around the edge would work well for holding jewelry. I enjoyed making this because I like working with clay and trying new things.
I really enjoyed this project. It is kind of hard to remember what it was like because we waited until after Christmas and making our whistle to glaze the bowl. I choose gray glaze because I thought that it would match our kitchen the best. I am going to give this to my mom because I think that she will have more use for it in her kitchen, than in mine (I don't have a kitchen) This was a really fun project and I am looking forward to glazing my whistle.
I made my whistle as a toilet. It was first intended to move. The Lid was supposed to move open and shut. It didn't work. I broke it because I didn't make enough space for the edges of the lid to move. It broke before I glazed it, but even if it had of worked before I glazed it it wouldn't work after I glazed it. This is because the glaze gets sticky when it melts and when it hardens it sticks. It was a great dream, but didn't turn out. Anyways, I think it looks great!
I did a water color of an octopus. It was really fun. I picked it because it had a lot of texture for me to add. It was a lot easier than I thought that it would be. I finished a lot earlier than my class and worked on another project (a hand drawing of me holding my tennis racket) that I started outside of school. It turned out really well. The inking part took most of the time and the water color part was pretty easy because I had all of the ink on. I would do this project again at my house. I think if I went back and did it again I would probably do the background a little different.
I choose to do a dragon fly because my mom did some really cool dragon fly art in high school. I really enjoyed this project, I found it really relaxing even though I'm not very good at it. It was very fun. I am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. If I could go back and do something different I would probably change the background. The background in the picture looked kind of weird and I don't really like how the background turned out. I had to you colored pencil to get the wings and it took a while, but it was worth it!!! I am excited to see what we will do next!
I really enjoyed the project and I think that it turned out great. I did a rooster because my mom's maiden name was deHaan which means rooster in Dutch. I made lots of prints and I will use some of the prints that I didn't put in my book for letters or cards or what not. It was really fun and I enjoyed the process. I am happy that I ended the year with a fun project that turned out great. I can't wait for next year in 2d art!
