In this project, our job was to create a Self-portrait of ourselves based off of a photo of our choosing. We used the technique of having a smaller picture of ourselves with a grid lain over top of it. Then, our job was to draw a grid on this larger piece of paper, which was twice the size of the picture. Then we found key points to find the lines and shapes of where certain parts began and ended. After that, it was simply shading it how we saw it on the photo. This project was fairly difficult, but I do like the way it turned out. It looks fairly similar to the photo I used, so that does insight a bit of pride. However, there is no way I could have done it without Mr Langmaack's guidance. The hardest part overall of this project I would have to say is the hair. I find it nearly impossible to get the shading and texture right of the hair, and it is what took a majority of my time. I look forward to the next art project, and hope it goes as well as this one.
In this project, we were told to choose a picture of a type of food, and then paint it. I ended up choosing to paint sushi as it is my absolute favorite food. I found this project a lot harder than the last one. It took me a very long time, even though the purpose of the project was to go quickly. However, I'm not very good at going quickly. I am happy with how most of it turned out, except for one of the pieces that I just couldn't get. I did learn (by the end of it) that going faster does actually make the painting look better. I also learned that it's okay for the painting to not look exactly like the picture, and to make it your own. I really struggled with that part. If I were to do this project again, I'm sure it would go a lot better. Not my favorite project, but I did enjoy certain parts. In the future I'll try harder to listen to what Mr Langmaack says about how to successfully do art immediately, and save myself the trouble of figuring it out the hard way.
In this project, we were supposed to scratch out any picture of an animal that we would like. I chose to do a picture of my cat. While there were several parts of this project that didn't go as planned, I'd say for the most part, I'm happy with how this project turned out. I also felt that this project was pretty fun and relaxing. I certainly learned what to do, and what not to do though. I'm sure that if I were to do this project again, it would turn out even better than this time. The most difficult part of the project for me, though, was the fact that I had to be loose in this project. I usually like to try and make something exact, so just going for it, was something I don't normally do. However, once I did, it went much smoother. So thanks to that, and Mr Langmaacks help, I finally finished this project in a way that I liked. I'm looking forward to the next project.
ln this project, we were supposed to create a watercolor of an architectural picture of our choice. I chose to paint the eiffel tower, as I've always thought it was a beautiful piece of architecture. I cannot say that this was one of my favorite projects, but I do like how it turned out. The part that took me the longest was probably the pen work, with all the bars of the eiffel tower, as well as the details on the bridge. I really struggled with how to get the leaves on the trees right, but Mr Langmaack showed me how to do it right, and then it was a breeze from there. Overall, I'm just glad I was able to finally get this project done. Time to move onto the next one!
In this project, I chose to do a John Deere Lawnmower, so that I could give it to my Grandpa as a gift. He loves John Deere, and he mows his lawn with one every week. This project was a struggle, and I'm happy to be done, but I also liked this project for the most part. Well, at least I didn't want to tear it to shreds like the watercolor. The part I actually enjoyed the most, were the different shades of gray to make them look shiny. I had a lot of trouble with the green, so I was happy for something that was more about shade than color. I owe a lot of this project to Mr Langmaack's help, and I am happy with how it turned out for the most part. And this project brings my Junior year to a close.
