Introduction of Studio Art

Line Art

I chose to do the underwater scene because it allows many different possiblities of things to draw, such as shipweck items, underwater animals, and the treasure chest. But, I drew the baloon to throw a little creativity into the mix. I learned how to use colored pencils and how to push hard with them.

Insect Painting

I found this bug scrolling through images of "exotic bugs" on google images. I chose this bug in specific because of it's coloring and the clean lines on it's back. It makes the colors pop and you can really see how they compliment one another. It was really fun to paint and learn that painting is more than paint on canvas, but blending with a dry brush, painting non-solid colors, and applying shade to produce a piece of art.

Hand Drawing

I chose to do wire cutters because of the big long curve of the handle and it wasn't done by anyone else. To challenge myself, I chose to hold the tool between my ring and pinkie. I unknowingly cursed myself in doing so and it took me way to long to finish it. But, I learned so much about shading, blending, and just pencil drawing in general because I've never done anything like that. Although challenging, I learned quite a bit.

Clay Wistle

For my clay wistle, I made it awesome by turning it into the notorious Dr. Doofenshmirtz from the child TV show Phineus and Ferb. It was challenging making the nose without a nasal collapse or a hole in the nose. Otherwise, making it was challenging but easy at the same time. Next, while glazing I had the problem of not having a skin color. So, I used crackle yellow but it turned out more yellowe than skin color. But all in all, it was a super fun project with a really fun outcome that actually whistles!

Coil Bowl

For my coil bowl I originally wanted to put 4 crosses but that became too challenging so I just freeballed it and it went pretty well. I had no cracks because I blended well on all coils. But, I did one less coil on the right side of the bowl making it uneven which is a little frustrating but I'm ok with that. I leared a lot about design and blending during the course of this project.

Clay Jar

For my jar I wanted to do a candle. That's why you can see the melting top and the cylinder shape. But, I thought that a cool design would be better than looking like a candle. So, I painted a black base to make the colors I would splatterpaint. Buuuuuuuuut, what I didn't realize was that the glaze needs several coats to show through. So, I ended up having not so showing colors. But, that ended up looking kinda dope so I went with it and I liked it. With this project I learned about improvisation and that you neeeeeeed several coats of glaze.

Watercolor Underwater Painting

For my underwater watercolor painting I decided to go with the pufferfish. I chose this fish because it's unique and most unlike most of its fish kin. One of my favorite colors is purple, so I went with monochromatic and used purple. Purple also gives off an underwater feel. Through this project I learned a ton about watercolor, how you have to let the paint do as it feels for the background but you use the paper towel to have control within the painting. Finally, I leaned about pens and how you don't outline it like a cartoon, but add shades and lines to emphasize parts of the painting you really want the viewer to notice and enjoy. I really like this project, although accidentally spilling come black paint as you can see.

Spot The Difference

I enjoyed this project because I got to learn how to photoshop (beginner level) which is something I’ve been wanting learn a bit. My favorite part was grinding it out on one night to get it done. The hardest part was definitely having to restart 4 times due to my chromebook crashing. Personally, I feel that the whole project was smooth, beneficial, and well executed, as it only took 2 weeks or so. I think the final book is sweet and it’s cool seeing our classmates work into an actual bonafide book. I hope the people viewing the book learn that there’s people out there that care and hopefully make their day a just a little bit better.

3D story

This 3D art story is easily my least favorite project. Mostly because the boundries were so loose. I like having step by step projects with places of controlled creativity in between, but this one was so open I didn't know wha to do with myself. Reguardless, I definitely learned some life skills like how to not try to skewer your brother with a skewer when you get frustrated, or why it's extremely necessary to be careful for superglue to not get between your fingers, or you'll become a human frog faster that a blink of an eye. It wasn't an enjoyable experience, but it was one heck of an experience.
