3D art

Initials

This is my 3D art project that is supposed to reflect us as people and to include our initials. This project has has two a's and it makes a heart. There's also a hidden sideways J in the side so that I included my entire name. (AJA) I chose to do a dutch styled deft designs because it describes my heritage and where I'm from.

Styrofoam Realistic Object

I choose to do a lemon which was pretty easy. I started out with a block of Styrofoam then tried to make the shape as best as I could. I used an exact knife to cut out the exposed fruit. Overall I really enjoyed this project because of fast I got it finished and it turned out very realistic.

Realistic animal

This is my 3D pig, which has massive ears. This project took a while to sculpt out the right shapes without seeing the model in front of me, unlike the lemon. I orginally was going to add red boots to the pig but I ran out of time. This project was the opposite of the lemon because it was about adding product to get the correct shape, instead of subtracting.

coil-formed bowl

This bowl took a long time to make. I started off with a circle as the base then progressively adding a layer of coils and blending them into the previous layer. I wanted something I knew I would like so I decided to do a dutch-styled blue and white bowl which matched my initials as seen in the project above. I sketched out a design and then craved it into the bowl when it was dry. I would have done it differently now without craving and more painting smaller details. Even though it did crack, I enjoyed this project and the usefulness of having a large serving bowl like this.

kiddie project

This project was supposed to be a lamp. I started off by drilling holes into a piece of wood, then connecting the holes with pieces of twine, not really with a set plan. I was going to make panels of tissue paper and then put fairy lights inside. However, I wouldn't find much use of this and I doubt I would keep it in my room. I think it would find its way towards a Hefty bag instead.  When I was contemplating doing this, my friend mentioned that it looked like "one of those toys at the dentist." I couldn't agree more, so  soon I found beads and poked holes through corks so that they could make their way around the twine. I plan on keeping this project so that someday my future kids can play with it and find just as enjoyment as I did creating it.
