Just this year the Broadway hit musical, Hamilton, just celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Many of you have seen this musical, used the trends on TikTok and Youtube, or at least heard of it. This musical explains the amazing, and quite busy life of Alexander Hamilton. 

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, Lin Manuel Miranda (creator of Hamilton) finally put one of his dreams to life: put Hamilton into movie theaters. Miranda wanted to do this just before COVID hit, but because of the pandemic was unable to. On September 5th, Hamilton hit movie theatres for the first time, and on the first day it made $3.9 million! The original cast gathered to celebrate this amazing accomplishment at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park with many other fans. They were truly in the room where it happened! 

Earlier this year, the original cast came together to perform at the Tony Awards. The cast performed a medley of some of the most well known songs from the musical and received a standing ovation. They also celebrated this magical moment by recording a special album for their fans. With that, the Hamilton company also just came out with brand new albums called 10 Shots, color coded and named for each one of the main characters. The albums go on sale on October 31st, and even though that day may be Halloween, we will be buying as many as we can! 

Even though most of the cast has left, Leslie Odom Jr., the original Arron Burr has just returned to the musical on Broadway until November 26th. This is not all he is doing this year either. On May 2nd, 2026 he will be coming right here to Buffalo! That's right, he will be singing with the Buffalo Philharmonic. Also, another one of the original cast members from Hamilton was just around the area. Christopher Jackson, who played the original Geroge Washington, was just at The Chautauqua Amapa Theatre to speak. He came on August 8th, and talked with Kwame Alexander. 

So, with all the excitement surrounding the 10-year anniversary of Hamilton, there have truly been plenty of events to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
