Competition Details
HG Invitational is a virtual, asynchronous Division B Science Olympiad Invitational. All events will follow current SCIO rules. Should there be event clarifications, they will be posted on the Scilympiad website linked here.
Tests will be released on TBD Eastern Standard Time. The Scilympiad portal will close on TBD Eastern Standard Time.
Once students start their events through Scilympiad, they will have 50 minutes to complete their events (excluding build events—see information on build event logistics below).
There will be no hands-on or lab portion for any event. However, build events will be run (see information on build event logistics below).
Invitational events and tests are created by high school student volunteers. For the highest possible degree of accuracy, the HG Invitational Organizing Committee will attempt to have tests be peer-reviewed by the volunteers, Horace Greeley teachers, and/or regional event supervisors during the month leading up to the competition. However, this review is not guaranteed for all tests.
The Honor Code will be a testament for all students to agree to follow Science Olympiad and HG Invitational policies when competing.

Students will be able to complete tests via Scilympiad. Teams will be able to access these tests at any point during the week of TBD. Once students open the test portal and start the test, they will have 50 minutes to complete study event tests.
On the week of January 19th, 2026 to January 25th, 2026, teams will submit a video recording, a build log, and a checklist for each build event to a Google form. The link to this form will be released on January 19th, 2025 at 7:45 AM EST. All submissions must be uploaded into the Google form by January 25th, 2026. Head Coaches will receive instructions on how to navigate build events.
Should students experience issues submitting answers via Scilympiad, teams can upload their answers to an alternative Google form as a second resort (link to be released). Students may submit their answers directly into the Google form, or upload a document to their answers. Please note that teams who need to use the alternative answers form should email hgscioly.invitational@gmail.com as soon as possible.
