Who would’ve thought that joining SEATEACHER in the Philippines could make me feel like a tiny piece of a giant puzzle called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? Turns out, my teaching adventure at NEUST wasn’t just about lesson plans and classroom management—it was also about making the world a better place (cool, right?). Let me break it down for you:
SEATEACHER’s all about sharing teaching ideas and learning from different education systems. By teaching and observing in Filipino classrooms, I was contributing (even in a small way!) to improving the quality of education. Plus, it gave me new insights to bring back to Indonesia—win-win!
This program is basically a living example of SDG 17. Universities from different countries working together, students sharing knowledge, and everyone collaborating to raise the bar in education. I felt like I was part of a global teacher squad working towards a common goal!Â
One thing I loved was seeing how students, regardless of gender, were given equal opportunities to learn and participate. I made sure my teaching style was inclusive, so no one felt left out. That’s one small step for equality, one big leap for education!Â
Teaching in SEATEACHER wasn’t just about helping students; it was also about growing as a future teacher. The skills I gained—like time management, adapting to new cultures, and handling a classroom—are definitely going to help me in my career.Â
Experiencing a different culture and education system opened my eyes to the unique challenges faced by students in different regions. It taught me how to create lessons that are inclusive and accessible, no matter where I am.Â
So, yeah—what started as a teaching practicum turned out to be a journey that connected me to something much bigger. SEATEACHER taught me that even small actions, like teaching a lesson or helping a student, can ripple out and support global goals. Who knew saving the world could start with a whiteboard and some chalk?Â
