The transition from high school to university is a turning point in our lives. We have to always remind ourselves that there's will be big differences changes once you live as university student. It can be often exciting but challenging in new environment.
As a student, we must adapt with new environment whether you like it or not. We can be worried and feeling little sad as we taking a step back of our teenage activities. Whether we move away or stay close to home, university is a chance to try new things, discover more about ourselves and make new friends.
University life is almost like trial and error. Don't forget that the transition of university life also preparing ourself to university study. You need to know what to do and not to do. So, by embracing transition school to university with open minded and a willingness to adapt, it can be a life changing in ways to shape students to prepares them for the road ahead.
There's a few steps that lead to success as a university student :
Attend all classes regularly. Being present helps you stay up-to-date with course material, understand the concepts directly and can be part in discussions. Regular attendance strengthens your understanding, makes studying easier, and improves your chances of academic success.
Participate in class. For some student that might be feel a bit uncomfortable participating in class, they can try to set a goal either ask or answer one question in each class. So when you start participating, you feel more a part of class while learning and will become more actively involved in learning process in the class.
Organized with your works. Many new university students have difficulty to keep track of their assignments, study materials and managing their responsibilities. The workload in university will increases as the semester progresses if you keep procrastinates! So, as university student, you should always keeping up or set reminder with the due dates of your works.
Form study groups with friends. You can form 3-5 people of study groups that who are really serious about their studies because only then they will contribute.
Be willing to read the outside of course materials. It means that you have to explore resources beyond the required textbooks or assigned readings for a course. As examples, researching by articles, academic papers or online content that can expands your knowledge of the subject.
