Who gets coached?

Working with teachers is the top priority for instructional coaches. School wide access to an instructional coach is ideal; however, at a minimum, instructional coaches are assigned to work with provisional teachers. Provisional teachers, teachers in their 1-3 year of teaching, work closely with the instructional coach through the use of the coaching cycle. The goal of instructional coaching is to improve student learning through effective classroom instruction. The coaching cycle is a process that uses data and evidence to help teachers make and reach instructional goals.

Coaching Assignments

Each instructional coach is assigned to either one or two schools, depending on the needs of the school. The assigned coach is reponsible for providing instructional support for that school. Coaches work closely with principals and staff to reach instructional goals as identified in the school's improvement plan, as well as with provisional teachers as they complete their first three years of teaching.
