Coming in new! Welcome! I'll try to post the class announcements below...
Edgenuity Due Dates Updated (Nov. 4,2020)
Yesterday afternoon I updated the assignments and lessons in Edgenuity for Math, Science, and Social Studies. Now everyone should be on the same schedule in all subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)! This week we are on Module 9 in all subjects except for Science. Science you should be on Module C. If this change affected your current schedule or if your student all of the sudden got really behind and before they were not, please let me know. For those of you who are really behind, please have your students work on the modules mentioned above. Thanks for the continued support and please reach out with any suggestions, comments, or concerns. Mr. D
3 Things (Nov. 2,2020)
1) Over the weekend I updated Edgenuity Language Arts with dates that reflect the end of the Semester for the course (around Jan. 15th 2021). It may or may not have changed due dates for your students. I’m hoping to update Math, Science, and Social Studies during this week. Please let me know if you like the change and/or if it helps.
2) Nov 6th (this Friday) is the last day to transfer back to brick & mortar (in person boundary school). If you haven’t already, you’ll need to contact UON (Uintah Online (435-781-4675)) and the school returning to.
3) If your student got their picture taken, the pictures are available at the AVEC Center next to Uintah High School. Nov 16th is picture retakes @ Maeser Training Center 8-2
As always please contact me with any concerns, comments, or suggestions. Have a wonderful week, Mr. D
Transfers to Brick-and-Mortar for Tri. 2 (Oct. 29,2020)
I have been asked by the Principal to share the following information with you: "Parents/guardians who want their student to transfer from Uintah Online to a "brick-and-mortar" school for second trimester need to contact both Uintah Online and the school they want their student to transfer to by Friday, Nov. 6 to discuss their student's transfer options." I would be willing to help anyway I can. I however understand that online is not for every student and family. As always please reach out and contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns.
Online Progress Reports (Oct. 26,2020)
Good afternoon Parents & Guardians. Starting today, and continuing over the next couple weeks, I’m planning on sending out Online Progress Reports. They include specific information about your student’s attendance, Edgenuity, iReady, Lexia information. I’m hoping that you’ll receive an updated one every 1-3 weeks. These are intended NOT to overwhelm, but instead you more informed about your student’s online education. I will provide encouragement and goals for your student to work on.
If you are behind in Edgenuity, I’ll try to provide you with a place to start. I would ask that you at least try (or continue to try) the program, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any problems. As you START to work on the recommended modules, we can then talk about past due assignments/lesson. Also, if you concerned about your students’ current academics/levels let me know. AS ALWAYS please contact me if you have any concerns, comments, or suggestions.
Wishing you and your family well during this time, Mr. D.
Fall Break (Oct. 13,2020)
Good afternoon. I’ll first start off with the bad news. Unfortunately last week we missed our class goal of 50 students getting their Lexia Usage Minutes. Continue to do your best, so that we can hopefully make it next time! There will be NO School starting tomorrow, Wednesday running through Friday. Please enjoy this time off! We’ll start back up again on Monday, October, 19th. AS ALWAYS please reach out with any comments, concerns, or questions. Thank-you, Mr. D
Lexia Minutes (Oct. 9,2020)
Thanks for all your hard work. I know this time hasn't been very easy. I'm wishing you and your family well. I am sorry to send another email this week. However I really want us to meet our Class Goal in Lexia! I show we are currently at 42 students who have met their Lexia minutes this week. Our goal is 50, we are so close! If you able and your student still needs minutes please have them get on Lexia this afternoon so we can make it by the end of the day! If you're unsure if your individual student has met their goal, please reach out. Thanks, Mr. D
Lexia (Oct. 5,2020)
Hello to all. One of the programs we are using with Uintah Online is called Lexia Core5. As with any online program, if it’s not being used, it’s not very effective. The program places goals of 20 to 60 minutes per week for first grade depending on where the student is currently at. You can check your student’s usage and goal immediately after they log in (through Clever) above the globe picture. It’s important to note that “Consistently meeting usage targets increases the chances that students will reach their EOY (End Of Year), grade-level benchmark.”
Last week, as a class, we had 38 students who met their usage in Lexia. I would like to set a class goal of having 50 or more students meeting their Lexia usage this week.
Please, if needed, either contact me or make an individual appointment. I’m here to help anyway I can. Thanks for the continued support,
Mr. D
Read! Read! Read! (Oct. 25,2020)
Good morning to all. I hope that things are beginning to settle a bit. Please, please, reach out to me if you have any comments, concerns, or questions. I’ll do what’s in my power to best help you. (https://sites.google.com/student.uintah.net/mrdelearn/contact-me?authuser=0)
Starting this month through March, I am excited to be able to provide you with the opportunity to participate in the Pizza Hut Book It Program. The program has been around for a long time and focuses on reading! It’s important, especially at this young age, that students are exposed to books! Please take time each day to read with your students. The Book It Program is completely optional. If you are interested there are several steps that need to occur. To help me out with the management of this I would ask that you please go to this website (www.shorturl.at/jFJ12), to sign up and track your students reading.
Read on,
Mr. D
Fridays (Sept. 25,2020)
Good morning Parents, Guardians, Caregivers, & students. I hope things are going well with you and your family as we continue this online journey together. I thank you for the continued support, comments, concerns, and questions I have received this far. I would hope that you will always feel welcome to communicate with me. Just as a remember, my contact information, as well as appointments/office hours/individual sessions can made at www.mrdelearn.com. Please note that this Friday (and most Fridays) are still technically a (shortened) school day where I need to take attendance. If possible, please make sure that your student spends some time on at least one of the 3 programs found in Clever (Edgunuity, i-Ready and/or Lexia Core5). This Monday, Sept. 28th, is a Professional Development for Teachers. This means students will NOT be expected to get online and attendance will NOT be taken this Monday. Please, please don’t hesitate to reach if needed.
Thanks again,
Mr. D
Thank you! (Sept. 21,2020)
Thank-you. Parents/Guardians you have been amazing during this difficult time. I appreciate your understanding, effort, persistence, and patience during this time. I’m happy to report that we were able to complete Acadience Reading Testing for most of the Online 1st-3rd Graders over the last couple weeks. I’m happy to report that I’ve created a website that hopefully will help. On the website you can make an appointment to meet with me, find my contact information, or get help! I’ll do my best to update as the year goes along. The website is www.mrdelearn.com. I’ve also placed the website as a link on your students Clever account as well. With the appointments I’d be more than happy to answer any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. If you are unable to meet one of the listed times or it is full for the next 2 weeks please email me. Please not that making appointments with will NOT be a class requirement. You book these appointments with me either on the website or directly at https://mrdelearn.youcanbook.me. I look forward to the week ahead. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if needed. Thanks again, Mr. D.
Welcome! (Sept. 8,2020)
Hi, I'm your new (and hopefully final) classroom teacher this year at Uintah Online. Before teaching Uintah Online I've been teaching a number of years at Eagle View. I still go by Mr. D!
