Regarding my short-term goals for my pursuit of medicine, I have dedicated much of my time and effort to mastering many necessary subjects for medical school and my eventual career such as Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, and more. Additionally, I have also made it a goal to join clubs and extracurriculars that will help me to grow into a better future doctor. I have already become a member of HOSA, but I plan to join even more relevant organizations. Lastly, I want to look into job shadowing and other clinical opportunities that will allow me to gain experience in the field as a supplement to what I learn in my classes.
Medical professionals are some of the biggest overall contributors to society with the great extent to which they help people. As someone who truly values serving my community, I have known for a very long time that a career in healthcare would be extremely fulfilling and meaningful for me. I also believe this career aligns with the value I place in both hard work and intellectual stimulation. The complexity of medicine piques my curiosity, and overcoming the great challenges one may face in this career path is sure to be very rewarding for someone with a work ethic like mine. This career path will be well suited to all of my skills, allowing me to be impactful, and will be well suited to my values, allowing me to be fulfilled in life.
Long term, I want to curate a strong application to get into medical school including a high MCAT score, many clinical/shadowing hours, and a solid GPA. While in medical school I want to narrow down which specialties I am interested in, as I am currently deciding between Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Pediatrics. My goal is to learn what specialty I am best suited for and truly hone my skills in that area so I am the best doctor that I can be.Â
