Pleasant Valley Junior High Band
About the Pleasant Valley Band Program
The PVCSD is a K-12 public school system of approximately 4,000 students and located in the northeast quadrant of the Iowa Quad Cities. The PV Band program starts beginning band students during the summer after the students' 5th grade year in a five week beginning band program. Once the school year starts, each of the five PVCSD elementary schools operates its own band which will perform for various school functions throughout the year. The five elementary bands combine as a district 6th grade band for the final performance of the year. In the Pleasant Valley Junior High, 7th grade students are placed into one of two bands. Each band is of equal instrumentation and talent level. In addition to participating in concert band, 8th grade band students also have the opportunity to join jazz band. Students in both 7th and 8th grade have the opportunity to participate in honor bands. The Pleasant Valley High School Band is made up of over 330 students who participate in four concert bands, three jazz bands, two pep bands, marching band, full orchestra, musical pit orchestra and numerous chamber ensembles. The 330+ member Spartan Marching Band is one of the largest marching bands in the state of Iowa. The goal of the PVCSD Band Program is to foster a life-long appreciation of music and to provide a place where all students are welcome.
