I started oil painting because I had a hard time articulating the things that I saw and the people that I experienced. Oil painting became a tool for me to capture the essence of what I wanted to portray. I paint and want to inspire people to start painting, especially the youth of today. Painting is usually seen as an inane hobby and not something to take seriously. I paint because I see it as a non-conventional lifestyle that I can use to provide for myself and the community around me. The goal of my paintings is to capture the tones of people's faces through oil paint. When looking at a person's face, I view their face as a bunch of different colors, instead of simply seeing just black and white. The different colors and tones are what give dimension and beauty to a person's face, without the different colors, everything would look extremely flat.
