Fall 2025 Inquiry Miner Mayhem Programs
To promote interest in STEM education
at all levels of education and skills development through
challenging and thrilling projects and competitions.
The MechE Mayhem program began in 2020 as a way to create an opportunity for college students to share their passion for STEM with the schools and communities they came from across New Mexico. The pilot projects focused on combat robot competitions when only a handful of schools which participated.
We provide open sources robotic and coding curriculum content and support to classrooms across New Mexico. The current topic areas include electronics, basic coding, mechanical design with larger projects in the form of Arduino combat robots, 150g combat robots, and NASA inspired exploration rovers with more topics coming soon. The base content for each program is built as the broader community impact of student and faculty research at New Mexico Tech. Updates to the program are motivated by k-12 student and instructor feedback and come from a combination of these k-12 instructors and our New Mexico Tech students.
