Sophomore year is a year of self-discovery and determination in the path of high school. Join clubs, get involved, and, most importantly, have fun!
Start a Texas Driver's Permit education course. This can be online through a program like Aceable or in-person at a Drivers' Academy. The Greenlight driving academy is located right next to Steele.
Get your Permit appointment with the DPS. You will need 2 forms of proof of residence, an ID/passport, and more. You will also need a VOE. A VOE is proof of your registration in a school. Just call the school and the front office will print one out for you. You can also email Kimberly Flanagin for your VOE.
Dual-Credit classes are courses that give you both high school credit that will go towards your graduation and college credit that will go towards your associate's degree. These classes can be hard and, at times, a lot of work. In order to succeed in these classes, you must have determination and commitment to success. There are plenty of resources at your disposal that can help with studying, note-taking, and test anxiety. Just ask a teacher- or especially a peer!
In the Fall semester, Sophomores take Drama and Federal Government. In the spring, students will take Macroeconomics and Texas Government. There are exceptions to this general plan, but, generally, most students take these 4 classes.
We recommend starting to study for the SAT or ACT the summer after sophomore year. During the school year, you should revisit some topics on Khan Academy. Doing one question is a lot in the long run!
