Jane Ganey, Director
Mrs. Ganey grew up in Birmingham, AL. She started her first theatre class as a freshman in high school at Shades Valley High School under the direction of Roy Hudson and Barry Austin, and worked with Janice Sanders and Carl Dean during her tenure at Shades Valley High School (currently Jefferson County Academy of Theatre and Dance). Ganey continued her theatre training at Troy University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts with a Dramatic Track. While in college, she spent summers working around the country with different theatre companies. Ganey has worked with theatre companies around Birmingham, including Virginia-Samford Theatre & South City Theatre. She hope to continue to grow these relationships with companies around the Birmingham area.
Ganey started teaching theatre in 2007 and transferred to Mountain Brook High School in 2021. She has been involved in several theatre associations in Alabama. In 2013, She was voted Chair of the Secondary Division of Alabama Conference of Theatre. Currently, she is the Chair for District 6 for the Secondary Division of the Alabama Conference of Theatre. She is also an auxiliary board member of the Alabama Educational Theatre Association. In 2017 & 2022, she was awarded Alabama State Troupe Director of the Year at the Alabama State Thespian Festival. In 2018, she was named Teacher of the Year for Thompson High School. In 2024, she was honored to be named Teacher of the Year for Mountain Brook High School.
Past students of her's have achieved great awards for theatre as well as academia. Her graduating theatre seniors consistently raise millions of dollars in scholarships to several universities and programs around the country. Alumni students are now working all over the country, including Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta and Tampa in several different capacities.
Ganey is married to her awesome, supportive husband, Logan, with two wonderful children, Piper and Dock. She is always excited to work with young artists and looks forward to many more years inspiring tomorrow’s talent!
