Women's rights in Islam

WORDS BY SONAM

Men and women should have the same, equal rights to choose. This equality is a sign of the right to freedom and choice in my religion. All the worldly and hereafter blessings that are provided for men are also provided for women, and there is no discrimination between them. Unfortunately, in the pre-Islam era, women lived in inappropriate and inhumane conditions. Society held a higher position for commodities and objects compared to women. Men did not recognize them and, as the second Caliph says, “We did not consider women as anything in Jahiliyyah; But Islam changed the situation with a reformation and provided many rights for women”. In the Islamic system, women have a high position. Women's rights in Islam include a series of general and special rights, which are rights that are shared by men and women as human beings. This piece outlines some of these rights, as laid out by Islam.

Economic rights: Women, like men, have the right to own and manage their own property. They have the right to have any possession as well as buying and selling their property that has been acquired through work and economic effort, inheritance or dowry, rent, mortgage, mortgage, mudarabah and loan. Women do not need permission from anyone, even from the husband.

Political rights: Women have the right to actively participate in the country's political affairs and shape the political destiny of their people - side by side with men. Women's political rights should be recognized and no one has the right to deny these women their rights.

Family rights: The family has a high status in various divine religions. In Islam, the most perfect religion, a great role has been given to the family. This involved the material and spiritual education of men. But, in order to progress and evolve this great institution, Islam has also assigned duties and rights according to the talents and abilities of both men and women.

The right to study: The right to study science and acquire knowledge is one of the rights that men and women share. For me, the right to education for women has priority over the other rights and privileges, because educated women gain the ability to achieve the other rights and privileges they need to protect themselves. Knowledge and education empower women and lower women's vulnerability in society. Education increases the fields of women's participation in all affairs.

Empowering women is an effective solution against the risks caused by climate change. The phenomenon of climate change in our country, like in other countries in the world, is progressing and showing its obvious effects. To address the issue of climate change, both women and families can play a major role and be the main actors in changing attitudes. The women of my land make up half of the society. If they are trained and empowered, they can play a big role in preventing climate change and slowing down the climate change process. Effective use of women’s potential to protect the environment and prevent harmful climate change is not only possible through legislation, but it should be done by providing education and making efforts to improve women’s outlook and their capabilities in various fields, including in management. It has been used in order to deal with climate change. When women’s awareness of environmental issues and climate change increases, a society will be built that has constructive concerns about this issue and will be more resilient in dealing with the phenomenon of climate change.

Financial rights (dowry and alimony):

Dowry: The financial rights of a woman in a joint life is dictated by the marriage contract and can include everything that is property or has benefits. Women, as soon as the marriage contract takes place, become the owner of the Mehr and they can do whatever they want in it.

Alimony: This is one of the financial rights of a woman in a joint life. In a permanent marriage, as soon as the marriage contract takes place, the man is obliged to pay it.

Intellectual rights: Spirituality is an essence that cannot be seen with the human eye. But its good and pleasant effects are manifested in the human personality and, according to the literal definition, the effects of its piety and virtues become a spiritual ornament for women's personality. This is necessary in the role of motherhood and raising children. Hence, a woman's enjoyment of spiritual rights provides the ground for men to settle down and relax. Otherwise, life and the family system will lose its real meaning. For women, this spirituality includes: good manners, prosperity and fulfilling the needs of the spouse.

The Almighty God has given a price to all these rights - the equality of the rights of men and women should be respected. Women should not be considered less than men because the hierarchy of people is a matter of the soul, not gender. It should be known that everything in society can be done with cooperation and assistance. Having help from men and women always creates a better result.
