The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Personal Definition: I think that for someone to be considered a professional, they must achieve a deeper understanding of their field. This mainly involves gaining experience until you understand what matters in your field and what is important to focus on. Being a professional also involves the mental aspect of the job, as a professional takes what their doing seriously and applies themselves to all aspects of the job.

My current work experience includes many hands on jobs such as my Geotechnical internship and carpentry apprenticeship positions. This summer I plan on continuing my employment in any one of my previous positions in order to continue enhancing my knowledge of the field.
At my Internship at Lambert & Associates most of the tasks consisted of Geotechnical testing. A common job would be strength testing a variety of materials such as soil, asphalt and concrete. My Internship gave me a solid insight into the engineering world and the day to day tasks of engineers.
