You can access the Manage Syllabus to review syllabi pending validation through the option available on your "Institution Page" in Blackboard.
Once in the Manage Syllabus application, you will find a panel with search options (by program and by professor) that you can explore.
To review the syllabi pending validation, click on the "Role Coordinator" option.
The Coordinator's review is triggered by three situations:
When you check the checkbox that appears after clicking your name in the top-right corner of the Manage Syllabus:
In this way, regardless of what is indicated in the following points, the Coordinator’s review and validation will always be required.
2. When the syllabus does not have a Metasyllabus, and as long as it has an assigned coordinator, it will go through the Coordinator Review phase.
3. When the syllabus has a Metasyllabus and at least one of the following cases (exceptions) applies, the system will automatically detect it and notify the professor to indicate the reasons for the modifications made. If none of these cases apply, the syllabus will not move to the Coordinator status but will instead proceed directly to the Program Management status.
% asynchronous /synchronous
The syllabus does not comply with the defined percentage of asynchronous /synchronous sessions established for the course in the structure.
Methodology
The Weighting indicated by the professor in the Methodology section does not comply with the rules established by the Metasyllabus.
Evaluation Method
The Professor has modified the Suggested Score in the Evaluation Method section.
or
The Professor has not linked all the Learning Objectives to the full set of categories in the Evaluation Method.
Bibliography
The compulsory book is not used in at least one of the sessions.
When the system detects any of these cases, the Coordinator will see the following message upon accessing the syllabus to be reviewed:
To review the reasons for the exceptions, the Coordinator can check the Track Review section and expand the line corresponding to the status change, where the detected criteria and the Professor's justifications are displayed.
In addition, the relevant sections will display an orange warning symbol.
Once reviewed, the Coordinator may approve it by selecting "Approved Exception" and "Send the Syllabus to the Program Management", which will allow the approval workflow to continue. Alternatively, by clicking "Reject syllabus", the Coordinator must inform the Professor of the reasons for the rejection and indicate a new submission date. The syllabus will then return to Professor status.
By clicking on "Reject Syllabus", a screen will appear where it will be necessary to provide:
1. The new deadline for the submission of the syllabus by the professor, who must make the necessary corrections and resubmit it. By default, the platform will assign a 2-day period, although this can be modified.
2. The sections of the syllabus that require correction. Comments must be added to guide the professor on the necessary adjustments.
As a Subject Coordinator, you can view the following reports in the Manage Syllabus. To access them, click on the "Reports" option located in the left panel of the Manage Syllabus screen.
Syllabus Status: allows you to view all syllabi of a program. The report can be downloaded in Excel format.
Deadline: displays all syllabi that have been submitted after the established deadline.
Rejected: includes the rejected syllabi, along with the corresponding rejection comments.
